4 rare supercars with over 1,000 horsepower

13 years after the Bugatti Veyron reached 1,001 horsepower, only 4 more cars have had a capacity to touch 4-digit numbers.

"1,000-horsepower club" was initiated by Bugatti in 2005 when the company's first Veyron reached 1,001 horsepower capacity. Some of the member firms in the club unveiled supercar designs which were expected up to 1,000 horsepower, but it is still in the plan. At this time, only 4 cars have reached the power of four numbers, qualified in the group.

Bugatti Chiron

Bugatti Chiron uses an engine of 1,479 horsepower.

Bugatti Chiron uses an engine with 8L16-cylinder W, three turbochargers, for a capacity of 1,479 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,600 Nm. Bugatti Chiron is the "heir" of the throne that Veyron has set up earlier, breaking the record of 1,000 horsepower since 2005.

Chiron was born in 2016 with a maximum speed of 402 km/h and the ability to reach speeds from 0 to 400 km/h in 42 seconds. While rivals Koenigsegg and Hennessey are still trying to improve on capacity, acceleration, or handling capabilities, Bugatti continues to maintain Chiron with luxury utility upgrades, what customers see in Rolls-Royce or Bentley.

Koenigsegg Regera

Koenigsegg Regera has a total hybrid engine capacity of 1,100 horsepower.

The Koenigsegg supercars were born quite quickly and attracted attention to the global car industry. The birth of Regera at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show (Switzerland) has changed the principles of the car industry, it is the supercar without a gearbox.

In Swedish, Regera means Dominance. The engine is a hybrid, with a 5-liter dual-turbo V8 DOHC petrol engine, with a capacity of 1,100 horsepower. Combined with it are 3 YASA electric motors, two engines mounted on the rear wheels and an engine located on the center. The total capacity of the vehicle is 1,500 hp, 2,000 Nm of torque. Both a gasoline engine and three electric motors on the vehicle use Koenigsegg Direct Drive to replace traditional gearboxes, reducing transmission losses while providing continuous power for the rear wheels.

The super electric car from China has a capacity of 1,341 horsepower.

Chinese supercar is one of the fastest cars ever tested on the Nurburgring racetrack, Germany. The power of NextEV NIO EP9 is up to 1MW (megawatt), equivalent to 1,341 horsepower with motors in each wheel with an average capacity of 335.25 horsepower.

Using a 4-wheel drive system, the electric car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h within 2.7 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 312 km/h. With two battery packs working together, the vehicle can travel 426 km and is fully charged within 45 minutes.

Zenvo TS1 GT

The supercar from Denmark has a capacity of 1,163 horsepower.

The latest supercar of Zenvo Automotive, Denmark officially launches at the Geneva Motor Show 2017. The power on Zenvo TS1 GT is from a 5.8-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, made of light aluminum alloy material and air cooling system. The engine has a power of 1,163 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,100 Nm. When combined with a 7-speed gearbox, Zenvo TS1 GT can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds before reaching a maximum speed of 402 km/h. However, it is not clear whether the TS1 GT is still in production, as 15 cars were scheduled to start in 2017, but then information about these Danish supercars is quite silent.

In addition, the names promising to join the club such as Hennessey Venom F5 with 1,600 horsepower, or Rimac C_Two with 1,888 horsepower are still silent although their time of launch is next year.
