What is food additive?

Food additives are substances that are added to the food to preserve or improve the taste and appearance of the food. These substances are deliberately mixed with food or beverages to keep them from spoiling without altering the quality and taste of the product.

Sometimes people also use additives to make the product have a certain color or good taste to attract more consumers. For example, due to using the additives, bread can be kept longer, and jambon remain pink and fresh.
