2. Omega 3 increases the risk of bleeding

Gum bleeding and nosebleeds are two of the typical side effects of consuming too much fish oil. A study in 56 people found that taking 640mg of fish oil daily for 4 weeks could reduce blood clotting in healthy adults.

In addition, other research shows that taking fish oil may increase the risk of nosebleeds. 72% of teenagers taking 1 to 5g of fish oil daily have omega 3's side effects as nosebleeds.


3. Omega 3 causes hypotension

A study of 90 dialysis patients found that taking 3 g of Omega 3 fatty acids per day significantly reduced blood pressure. The analysis of 31 studies concluded that taking fish oil can effectively lower blood pressure, especially for people with high blood pressure or high cholesterol levels. However, it can cause serious problems for people with low blood pressure.

4. Omega 3 causes diarrhea symptoms

Diarrhea is one of the common side effects of taking Omega 3 fish oil. These side effects are especially more common when taken in high doses, which can be accompanied by other digestive symptoms such as bloating. If you have diarrhea after taking Omega 3 fatty acids, try taking a meal supplement and consider reducing the dose to monitor whether symptoms are easing.


5. Omega 3 causes vitamin A poisoning

Certain omega 3 fatty acid supplements that are high in vitamin A can be toxic if consumed in high doses. For example, about 14g of cod liver oil has been able to meet up to 270% of your daily vitamin A needs. A number of studies have found that taking fish oil in moderation can improve sleep quality. In a study of 395 children, it was found that taking 600mg of omega 3 fatty acids daily for 16 weeks could help improve sleep quality.

In one study reported that taking high doses of fish oil may worsen symptoms of insomnia and anxiety in patients with a history of depression. Reports suggest that excessive intake of fish oil can interfere with sleep and contribute to insomnia. However, scientists still need more in-depth studies to better determine the side effects of omega 3s on sleep.
